Lahaul Spiti-Overview

Kunzum Pass, one of the uppermost motorable passes in India, parts Lahaul and Spiti district. This place is near a captivating lake well known as Chandratal Lake. The lake has got its name due to its arced moon shape. This unspoiled lake lies in the Spiti region, has a campsite around 2 km from it, where trekkers nail their tents and ignite a bonfire to enjoy the unusual opportune clear sky studded with stars at night. In opposed to other flora enriched valleys of Himachal, Lahaul and Spiti are meagerly lush. It gives a profound experience of the high elevations of the region. Lahaul-Spiti has many monasteries and temples portraying the convergence of both cultures. Tabo monastery in Lahaul and Key monastery in Spiti highlights the Tibetan culture prevalent in the district. Hundreds of monastics come to Key monastery to meditate and pray each year during the summer season. Kibber village, Darcha, Suraj Tal Lake, Pin valley national park, and Dhankar fort are a few other prevalent places to discover in Lahaul-Spiti. Kaza town is the secretarial sector of the Spiti region. It houses many homestays and hotels for voyagers coming to Lahaul- Spiti. The district is around 200 kms from Manali town that can be reached by the Manali-Leh route.
